Evolving with EdPlus: Breaking down the math barrier before college

As chief innovation officer for EdPlus at Arizona State University, Bethany Weigele is focused on alleviating barriers to higher education and increasing student access both online and in person. 

In the inaugural video of the Evolving with EdPlus series, which will feature videos that dive deep into topics ranging from digital teaching and learning, education innovation, transformational partnerships, technology development, global education at scale and more, Weigele discusses the role math plays as one of the biggest barriers not only to a STEM degree but within higher education as a whole. 

In an effort to eliminate this barrier and improve math proficiency, EdPlus and ASU Prep are reshaping how students learn and succeed through the launch of a new adaptive technology platform: Digit. 

“The role of technology is so critical in how it can end math illiteracy at scale,” said Weigele while discussing the launch of Digit and the role this platform can play in the K-12 space.
