The EdPlus story: Partnering with like-minded changemakers

· by EdPlus

Today’s learners are forging new paths to a college degree - paths that are flexible, diverse, and no longer defined by a single starting point of route. At Arizona State University, partnerships are central to building these pathways. Through collaborations with academic institutions, corporations and community organizations - supported and managed through EdPlus - ASU is expanding access to education and empowering more individuals to turn aspirations into achievements.

The EdPlus Lookbook, “The Story of EdPlus at Arizona State University: Designed to Innovate for Impact,” highlights how these partnerships open doors for those ready to succeed.

Allies and partners in broadening educational opportunities

EdPlus supports ASU in the cultivation and management of a diverse portfolio of academic and industry partnerships that make higher education more accessible and achievable. Whether supporting learners who are restarting their educational journeys or first-generation students looking to learn their degree, these partnerships reflect a shared commitment to inclusive, innovative pathways to success.

  • Starbucks: The Starbucks College Achievement Plan, launched by Starbucks and ASU in 2014, was a groundbreaking initiative for offering education benefits. Eligible partners (employees) receive 100% upfront tuition for a first-time bachelor’s degree through ASU Online, along with full access to university support services, including success coaches, academic advisors, and career development teams.
  • Uber: Qualified Uber participants have the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree online with full tuition coverage. The partnership also provides the opportunity to extend this benefit to a family member. This means individuals can continue working as they earn a degree with flexibility and even support a loved one in earning theirs too. To meet unique learning needs, course offerings in English language learning and entrepreneurship are also an option.
  • Air University: The joint efforts of ASU and Air University improved military online learning by introducing an advanced education platform for officers and enlisted personnel. The innovative tools and technologies streamline the educational journey, making it easier for service members to achieve their academic and professional goals.
  • U.S. Naval Community College: The partnership between USNCC and ASU offers associate degree programs to prepare active-duty enlisted service members in the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard for careers in the armed forces. Along with USNCC personnel, ASU academic advisors and success coaches support online students on their way to graduation.
  • ASU+GSV: For over 15 years, the partnership between ASU and Global Silicon Valley has united the brightest minds in EdTech, AI, innovation and business during the annual ASU+GSV Summit. These education and workforce leaders convene to forge partnerships, network and connect over transformational ideas and the delivery of accessible education at scale.
