We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer Senior to join our innovative Solutions Engineering team. Every day you will make a difference in the lives of others by guiding and provisioning complex technology solutions and collaborating with multidisciplinary leads to optimize and enhance ASU products on a global scale. You will have a unique opportunity to drive innovation and shape the future of higher education technology by playing a pivotal role in provisioning cutting-edge solutions across our digital portfolio.
As a senior member of our team, you will also mentor and oversee the work produced by other EdPlus engineers, student developers, and contractors. By fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning, you will contribute to their professional growth and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
Essential Duties:
- Design, develop and support high-quality technology services.
- Lead the development and implementation of technical solutions, ensuring they meet the defined requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams about various engineering topics such as detailed design, APIs, etc.
- Conduct discussions with team members to understand product scope.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Maintain technical currency and take advantage of professional development opportunities.
- Guide effective documentation and communication of engineering processes to EdPlus engineers, student engineers and contractors.
- Contribute to the larger IT community across the University.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to identify opportunities for improving system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in the implemented solutions and propose mitigation strategies.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, and user guides.
- Provide mentorship to all engineers on your team to help them grow in their technical responsibilities.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of software design principles, software development methodologies, and programming languages (React, NodeJs, PHP, Drupal, Composer, JavaScript, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Demonstrated proficiency in relevant technologies (Single Page Applications, Middleware, Learning Tools Interoperability-LTI, LMS, H5P, Blockly, API Development and GraphQL), frameworks (Serverless, Event-Driven, Microservices), and tools (AWS, Google Cloud, Infrastructure as Code) used in the industry.
- Experience building decoupled, secure, resilient, serverless applications using cloud native technologies (AWS preferred, e.g., API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless Framework).
- Evidence of knowledge of federated authentication and authorization models, including cloud security and access policies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of JWT and OAuth.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and work in a team environment.
- Evidence of flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapt to changing requirements, and learn new technologies as needed.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in system designs, documentation, and implementation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and consensus building skills through attempts to acknowledge differing needs, understanding, and objectives that may result in conflict.
- Demonstrated comfort in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders about software specifications and other business requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects with minimal supervision and direction.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively to drive the technical improvements and solve tough challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to software development lifecycle principles and standard methodologies.
- Demonstrated skills with a variety of development methodologies and ability to adapt these to the needs of an organization using Agile processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced team as well as with other experts across other disciplines.

- Describe a time you designed and implemented a decoupled, serverless application using cloud-native technologies (such as AWS Lambda, API Gateway, or Serverless Framework). How did you ensure the solution was secure, resilient, and scalable?
- This role requires proficiency in a diverse stack including React, Node.js, and various database models (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB). Provide an example of how you have integrated these technologies with middleware or APIs (such as GraphQL or LTI) to solve a complex technical challenge.

We are seeking a Financial Planning & Accounting Analyst to join our high-performing finance team. Every day you will make a difference in the lives of others by performing detailed cost and financial analyses and providing recommendations to ensure the efficient utilization of resources and proper accounting of transactions.
Essential Duties:
- Is responsible for departmental entries and account reporting, including budget, forecast and actuals.
- Performs detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts, and projections.
- Monitors account expenditures; maintains and reconciles account budgets; evaluates against budget guidelines.
- Assists in the annual budget and biannual forecast processes as well as preparation of operational and budget worksheets.
- Performs variance analysis (budget vs. actuals, forecast vs. actuals).
- Analyzes and interprets financial data for decision-making and planning.
- Communicates with EdPlus and ASU staff on their financial plans and answers policy, budget, and procedure questions.
- Identifies areas of concern and recommends appropriate corrective measures.
- Supports accounting- and finance-related process improvement initiatives.
- Supports month-end and year-end close with financial reporting and analysis.
- Builds and maintains financial models to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepares management reports, dashboards, and presentations for review.
- Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
