Success coaches

Part advisor and part motivator, success coaches are an integral aspect of the online student experience. Success coaches provide one-on-one coaching through virtual meetings, phone calls and texts. These coaching sessions focus on empowering students to persevere through challenges, work toward their goals, manage their time, develop good study habits and more depending on a student’s needs.

Re-entry team

The re-entry team is responsible for supporting students who left ASU Online to come back and finish their degrees. All re-entry specialists were previously success coaches and are skilled at working with students to empower them to overcome obstacles. These specialists guide students as they work through financial aid issues, change their major, register for classes and set up a realistic success plan to assist students in re-enrolling at ASU.

We're seeking an Educational Outreach Manager to support our Enrollment Center. This role will help lead a team while providing expertise in developing and facilitating outreach related strategies to educate and prepare students for enrollment and success at ASU across all campuses designed. Strategies may include classroom presentations, workshops, and tabling events both at an ASU campus or school/community sites. The Educational Outreach Manager will prepare, consult, and drive strategies to ensure collaboration from all departments working to leverage additional resources to help students. 

Essential Duties

  • Develop and lead a team to help strategize and facilitate relationships to partner with outside organizations to help students and learn more about ASUO.  
  • Assist with the development of specific methodology, workshops, communication, and materials unique to Outreach programs, strategies, and audiences. 
  • Understand marketing techniques to elevate student interest and partnership with ASUO.  
  • Coordinate and manage requests for Outreach services and materials to schools and other partners. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of Outreach and K-12 schools, the community, community colleges, ASU students, faculty, and staff to effectively implement strategies. 
  • Consult with staff, students, and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answer to questions and program goals and policy interpretation. 
  • Coordinate and/or monitor the effectiveness of related Outreach activities; work with supervisor and other Outreach staff to make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Conduct and assist with preparation of related program evaluation activities. Participate in the development of action plans to direct and guide Outreach strategies and activities. 
  • Develop and deliver related workshops, conferences, and seminars. 
  • Resolve issues relating to program development and implementation through verbal and written communication. 
  • Review research data and other literature and makes interpretations for application to related program, project, or initiative.
  • May assist in developing performance indicators, and accountability reports for new programs.
  • Work collaboratively with Outreach team to further department goals.
  • Represent Outreach and serve on various department and university committees. 
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Leadership experience preferred along with understanding enrollment coach and admissions responsibilities. 
  • Flexibility in schedule that may include some weekend work or travel.
  • Experience in presenting in front of small and large groups.
  • Experience in creating presentation materials required for various audiences.

We are seeking a dynamic Success Coach Lead to join our high-performing team in transforming student support. The lead is responsible for empowering a team of coaches to reach their full potential through quality coaching, goal setting and focus on student success.  The lead role requires the ability to adapt to change and have a sense of urgency and the confidence to handle a variety of challenges.  The Success Coach Lead serves as a key contributor in the implementation of wide-ranging initiatives to increase student retention and graduation rates. The Success Coach Lead creates and directs administrative processes, procedures, and practices to ensure proactive, consistent communication with students and colleagues. This position will also partner and collaborate with university staff in academic units, academic advising, colleges, enrollment services units and others across the university. A full commitment to the success of the business and high standards of achievement is expected in this position.

Essential Duties:

  • Cultivates an environment that empowers staff to be proactive as they deliver attentive customer service and build supportive relationships vital to student success.
  • Builds rapport and relationships with individuals and groups utilizing an outgoing, poised, and persuasive communication style.
  • Uses a leadership style that is firm, and goal oriented that motivates, trains, and engages others in an enthusiastic way.
  • Learns quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions and competing priorities.
  • Addresses all aspects of staffing and professional development in a highly consistent manner.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to provide a comprehensive service approach, address opportunities to improve services for the student experience and to bolster student success.
  • Establishes goals, executes progression plans, effectively delegates, and resolves general issues and concerns of students.
  • Monitors production and quality of student/coach interactions evaluating opportunities to benchmark, enhance and improve the student experience.
  • Oversees and resolves product or service problems by clarifying the complaint; determines the cause; selects and explains the best solution; expedites corrections or adjustments; follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Provides direction to staff including assignments, activities, and schedules to ensure the delivery of excellent service required to meet/exceed departmental goals.
  • Handles highly sensitive and/or complex issues with students and/or parents.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in closely related field AND three (3) years previous experience in one or more of the following areas: Advising, Recruitment, Retention, Enrollment, or related academic area, including two (2) years supervisory experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Evidence of supervisory/leadership experience in a customer service/support environment.
  • Experience in career counseling, academic advising, teaching or related types of coaching and counseling.
  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Evidence in developing, facilitating and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with diverse populations.
  • Experience in performing effectively in a fast-paced environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
  • Experience in work that requires problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
